The Obstetrics Emergency Unit (Pronto Soccorso di Ostetricia or PSO) is designed for women experiencing urgent problems during pregnancy. It is located in the same area as the delivery rooms, on the 5th floor of our clinic.
The service is managed by highly qualified maternity and medical staff and benefits from a high-performance technical platform.
Women entering the Obstetrics Emergency Unit are first assessed in order to establish the type of emergency (using a maternity triage system). They are then seen by an emergency care doctor and given treatment in a priority system, based on a diagnostic framework which makes use of any paraclinical tests such as ultrasounds, cardiotocography and laboratory tests.
The aim of the triage is to regulate access to the Obstetrics Emergency Unit according to the severity of the mother’s or baby’s condition. The midwife, who is trained to work in accordance with codified protocols, will receive the woman and, depending on the symptom or illness, assess the severity of the medical condition and establish the level of priority for seeing the emergency care doctor.
Opening times
The Obstetrics Emergency Unit is open 24/7.
Access
In front of the main entrance of the clinic are a few parking spaces, marked and reserved for emergencies.
These may be occupied for a limited time period (for dropping off and picking up). Other spaces are available for longer stays and for relatives and accompanying persons.
The Obstetrics Emergency Unit can be accessed through the main entrance of the clinic during its opening hours.
Outside of these hours, you can still access the Obstetrics Emergency Unit from the same entrance by ringing a doorbell which is directly connected to the emergency service and delivery area.
