THE AIM
The aim of this programme is to offer guests in the Oncology Unit personalised assistance in enhancing their appearance during and after therapy, with ideas and practical tips on how to best deal with the side effects of treatment, such as skin change. The oncology beauty treatments carried out during therapy lead to a reduction in stress and skin symptoms and an improvement in daily activities.
THE “HARMONY AND LIGHT” PROGRAMME
After receiving a diagnosis and following treatments, you may begin to ask yourself a series of questions about your physical appearance: “Will I lose my hair, eyebrows and eyelashes? What will I look like? How can I improve my appearance?” These are real concerns that can be a source of anxiety. Everything changes very quickly, and often things you thought you could rely on become uncertain. This enormously human, supportive and compassionate programme was designed to provide the patient with an all-round medical assistance, with support and collaboration from the medical staff. The programme, which is based on listening to the patient to help them regain their self-confidence, is made up of two monthly meetings. During these meetings, you can learn techniques and strategies for managing the visual side effects of treatment. These include:
- Facial treatments which use special cosmetic products to restore light and hydration to the skin
- Advice on suitable skin treatments to use during and after chemo and radiotherapy
- A professional face makeover
- Learning how to apply make-up on yourself
- Make-up tips, combinations and harmonising colours for achieving the best look.
